Borussia Dortmund have beaten Manchester United to the signing of Birmingham City starlet Jude Bellingham
Bellingham has been one of the most sought-after young players in Europe this summer. In August, Bellingham broke the record of former England striker Trevor Francis as Birmingham’s youngest player, when he made his first team debut aged 16 years and 38 days.
According to reports, the central midfielder has been impressed by the progress Jadon Sancho has made at Signal Iduna Park and believes he is more likely to get regular game time.
German publication BILD claim Birmingham will receive a €23million (£20.7m) fee for their starlet, who has agreed a five-year deal.
United reportedly offered £30m for Bellingham back in January, so may be angered to see City reportedly accepting an offer below what they were willing to pay.
The teenage sensation could have the chance to link up with compatriot Sancho now in Germany after reports suggesting United were unwilling to meet Dortmund’s £100m transfer valuation.
It is the second time the German side have beaten United to a precocious talent, with Erling Haaland seemingly on his way to Old Trafford before Dortmund pounded.
